Those of you old enough (and sad enough) to remember the comedy series “Up Pompeii” with Frankie Howard in the 1960’s/70’s will recall one of the catch phrases of the programme “Nay Nay and Thrice Nay” – this relic of the past recently came to mind with the horse meat saga – another comedy programme, if it wasn’t so serious, having a starring role across Europe and involving the populous of all European countries. This incident raised many questions and perhaps many double standards that the supposed mighty retailers, always standing on the moral high ground, should answer.

Well at last some good news for the viability of livestock in uplands areas. A study commissioned by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds has found that any changes in the grazing regime of the United Kingdom’s uplands areas will have serious consequences for threatened species. Therefore there is a requirement for proper support for these areas.
