Last Friday saw one of the main hogg and lamb prize sales at Ludlow Market.
529 store sheep, all being couples were entered for the sale, meeting keen competition from buyers.
Brampton Bryan farmer Richard Williams won first prize with a pen of Suffolk Cross North Country Mule Hoggs with single Beltex Cross Lambs at foot. They were purchased by a Worcestershire buyer, at the fall of the hammer, for £124 per couple.
Mr. Williams also won third prize in the same class with a pen of pure bred Lleyn Hoggs with single Beltex x lambs at foot, which sold for £126 per couple. Other hoggs and lambs sold to £128 per single couple.
