The first of the Spring Prize Store Cattle sales was held recently at Ludlow Market .
The Medicrop Perpetual Challenge Shield, sponsored by Ludlow Animal Health firm Prince Doyle & Jenkins for the champion pen of beef stores was won by Clun Valley farmer Roger Huffer from Meadow Head, Clunton who also won third prize in the same class.
It was the first time Mr Huffer had won a prize for his cattle at Ludlow. His winning continental x steers did him proud in the ring, weighing 534 kgs, realising £668 each. They were purchased by a Stoke on Trent buyer.
Mr. Phillip Norton from Culmington took first prize in the heifer section with his continental x heifers making £400 a piece and weighing 310 kgs.
In the feeding bull section, Brimfield partnership Hyde Bros won first prize with their Continental x bulls making £490 each at the fall of the hammer.
