The Easter Show and sale of primestock was held recently at Ludlow Livestock Market.
A feature for the second year running in the spring lamb classes was the generous sponsorship by Caltech-Crystalyx and Edwards Agricultural Supplies.
Herefordshire farmers Ms. B. Blandford & Sons won first prize in both lamb classes. The winning texel x lambs weighed 38kgs and made 274p per kilo. They were purchased by Mr. John Hunt from Perry Barr.
In the cattle classes the Ludlow Chamber of Commerce Trophy for the Champion Beast was awarded for the 23rd year.
Overall winners this time were Ms. F.G. Ward & Son, Wormsley Grange, Wormsley, Hereford. Their champion Limousin x steer weighed in at 650kgs. It was sold for 125p and purchased by Ms. Woodhead Brothers, Lancashire. In the heifer classes David Morgan, Bridge Farm, Almeley won first prize with his heifer weighing 545 kgs and making 127.50p
