The Jacob Society's National sale at Worcester again proved to be a resounding success with buyers present from across the country together with strong interest from Germany and Southern Ireland.
The sale resulted in an 88% clearance with a top price of 600gns for the Female and Reserve Supreme Champion, a shearling ewe from Mrs R Blacknell's 'Loynton' flock being secured after a strong battle by SA Bowling, Cullompton, Devon. SA Bowling was a strong buyer at the sale taking another 'Loynton' gimmer at 300gns. and a shearling ram from Connor & Dalrymple's 'Dun-Mor' flock at 400gns.
The Male and supreme Champion from 'Dun-Mor' levelled at a creditable 420gns to Mr A Witcomb, Melton Mowbray, Leicester.
Shearling ewes were hotly contested throughout with Mr C Richardson's 'Border' flock, recording a 300gns price for their second prize winner to SA Bowling and 200gns for a fourth prize winner to RS Smith, Tattenhall, Chester.
The 'Pentrenant' flock of Mrs DJ Price continued to record high levels at the sale with a ewe lamb that won 1st and Reserve Female Champion peaking at 325gns again secured by SA Bowling, Cullompton.
Mrs H Ballie's trip from Lanarkshire proved to be successful with one of her two ram lambs winning 1st and Reserve Male Champion and selling to Mrs D Price, Churchstoke, Powys for 300gns and the 2nd prize lambs making 180gns to L Jones, Builth Wells, Powys.
