Dennis who has been a stalwart supporter of the Zwartbles breed and a founder member and Chairman of the Blue Texel Sheep Society had the pleasure of seeing fierce competition for all sheep in both breed sections.

Top price in the Zwartbles breed was 710gns for a shearling ram bred by Heather Bleaze secured by Mr & Mrs C. Cromie of Ballynahinch, Co. Down, Northern Ireland.
Females enjoyed a brisk trade selling to 310gns for a ewe lamb to B. Jones, Betws-Y-Coed, Conwy and 300gns also for a ewe lamb again to Mr & Mrs C. Cromie of Ballynahinch, Co. Down, Northern Ireland.

The high point of the sale was the unrivalled demand for the Blue Texel breed with buyers travelling from across the Midlands and Home Counties to successfully compete for rams and females.
Top call came for an imported ram at 1150gns when fellow breeder D.G. Jones of Llangammarch Wells, Powys stayed the pace and took the 2 year old.

A 2-year-old ewe topped the senior section at 560gns purchased by Tynybryn Farms of Tregynon, Newtown, Powys.
Shearling ewes were hotly contested, peaking at 600gns to A & S Andrews Miserden, Stroud, Gloucestershire.

Clive Roads, Auctioneer for McCartneys described the trade and demand as ‘electric’ from start to finish with a strong company of buyers making their presence felt.
