John Uffold, Chairman of McCartneys local auctioneers and chartered surveyors, said he couldn’t remember as much interest in a piece of land as that expressed in the 1.78 acres at Brimfield Cross, sold by auction earlier this week. The bidding reached £27,250, in excess of £15,000 an acre, for the agricultural accommodation land. There was a packed auction room, not only for this property but others being marketed by McCartneys.
John Uffold said that “..the auction system cannot be beaten for any property which is slightly out of the ordinary or in scarce supply..”, and this certainly applies to agricultural land at the present, with the auctioneers receiving firm enquiries from at least three other interested parties after the sale who were unsuccessful.
