A large collection of original paintings by well known local artists comes under the hammer at McCartneys Portcullis saleroom on Friday 18th May.
The collection, both oils and watercolours, covers the period mid to late 20th century and includes works by Noel Shepherdson, A.S Phillips, David Stores, Derrick Hughes, Elizabeth Klein, Robert Jones and others.
Many of the pictures depict local county scenes.
Daniel Fielder said “It is unusual to get such a wide variety of local artists in one sale and we expect plenty of interest.”
Other items for sale include a fine ivory framed gouache on ivorine in the manner of Alma-Tadema, a 17th century joined coffer and an 18th century oak joined corner cupboard. A selection of silver items including a 70 ounce silver tray and a silver card tray will also come under the hammer.
For further information contact Joy Hughes on 01584 872251 or view our website on www.mccartneys.co.uk. The catalogue will be available on the website on Wednesday 16th May. Viewing takes place on Thursday 17th May and from 9.00 a.m. on Friday 18th May.
