I was talking last week to an acquaintance who had since the 1930s been keeping records of the weather in his area.
He told me that this year was more or less an exact replica to that of 1946. In 1946 they had a relatively dry and warm spring, a miserable wet summer with wide spread flooding but wait for it - an Indian summer. So maybe there is something to look forward this year however curb your enthusiasm. If the mirroring continues we have the winter of 1947 to look forward to!
From conjecture to fact. D-day has come and gone with all four-bedroom properties and larger requiring a Home Information Pack (HIP) before they can be sold. Further the Government will be phasing in this requirement for all properties by 1st January 2008.
Much has been written about the HIP and contrary to the general advice from the property professionals the government have pushed ahead with this piece of legislation under the auspices of speeding up the property buying and selling process. I am firmly of the opinion that this legislation will not make one iota of difference but lets wait and see. When I am snowed in this winter I will have plenty of time to mull over what happened to the property market in the autumn of 2006.
