Worcester Blondes Hit 3600gns

The British Blonde Cattle Society's Spring Show & Sale held for the first time at Worcester recorded a resounding success with a 90% clearance and a top price of 3,600gns.

Top price went to the Male and Overall Champion "Hackleton Achiever" a Hadley Hank son whose EBV included him in the top 10% of the breed from Hackleton Farms' herd at Northampton. He levelled at 3,600gns, being secured by HJ & BJ Read & Sons, Bromyard, Herefordshire.

Hackleton Farms had a successful day with a younger bull "Hackleton Blenheim" having won first in his class levelling at 3,500gns to AT Turner, Hahon, Derby.

Local breeder Roy Kinnish enjoyed a close and keen following topping his consignment for a first prize winner "Kinaston Berkley" by the noted Haydens Platinum at 2,600gns to A Faulconbridge & Son, Meriden, Coventry, Warwickshire.

David Knight's "Doncombe" herd was again very much to the fore both in the prizes and consistent demand. He topped his entry with "Doncombe Bugati" having won second prize and peaking at 2,550gns to Parker & Bird, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire.

Females were also hotly contested peaking at 1,950gns for "Withybrook Sweetheart", a seven year old cow with bull calf at foot from Hackleton Farms going to Phillips of Bockleton, Tenbury Wells, Worcester.

Auctioneer Clive Roads, reported that prices had been very buoyant and sharp reflecting the excellent quality of cattle in all sections.
