Long Standing Traditions Come Together

McCartneys Estate Agents and savings and mortgage provider Dudley Building Society have joined forces with the opening of two new agency branches in McCartneys offices at Craven Arms and Leominster. The new agencies opened for business on 8th May and offer the Society’s full range of investment and savings products. Land Fetches over £15,000 an Acre.

John Uffold, Chairman of McCartneys local auctioneers and chartered surveyors, said he couldn’t remember as much interest in a piece of land as that expressed in the 1.78 acres at Brimfield Cross, sold by auction earlier this week. The bidding reached £27,250, in excess of £15,000 an acre, for the agricultural accommodation land. It is forecasted that by the end of 2007 the average home will cost almost £220,000 compared to £100,000 just four years ago. However there is a danger that the bubble will burst in 2008 if the rise in house prices does not slow down. With banks and building societies preparing to lend a billion pounds everyday the result could be disastrous for both first time buyers and those with a high percentage mortgage who are in essence gambling with their homes.
