How to Buy at a McCartneys Auction

McCartneys makes buying at auction as simple as possible. Catalogues are available by clicking on each sale in the Sales Calendar. Our sales are held once a month with approximately 600 lots. Prices range from £5 to the top end of the market.

We have an excellent printed and internet catalogue, with selected items photographed and advertised in the international press and placed on our website. There is no charge for this service, which brings in buyers from all parts of the world.

Bidding at Auction

To bid at a sale, all potential purchasers must be registered. You will be issued a card with your buyer’s number and successful buyers will need to ensure their number can be clearly seen by the auctioneer. We also accept commission and telephone bids.

Methods of Payment

Accounts can be settled by cash or cheque. Other methods of payment should be discussed with the auctioneer.

A buyer’s premium will be charged on items bought at auction. Commission rates, including an insurance charge, are payable on items sold at auction. You’ll find our rates are amongst the most competitive in the industry. For further information please contact our Fine Art Department.

Goods purchased should be removed from the saleroom by the Thursday following the sale. Any goods uncleared by this time will be subject to a storage charge of £5 per day or part thereof except by prior arrangement with the auctioneer.
