A Castle Near The Sea

Fri 20 September 2019

I write this article to proudly introduce one of our latest instructions, Arthog Hall.

It’s not every day you get asked to list a country hall built to a castell style, located a short distant from the Welsh coast, but our team at the Welshpool office have been instructed to sell this splendid home.

Arthog Hall is an especially impressive country home, fabulously designed to look like a Castle. It has so much to offer, set in a wonderful location on a plateau against the hillside, with commanding views across the Mawddach Estuary and about 4.5 acres in all. Leaving Arthog village and onto a private lane, leading to a winding drive, the extraordinary home starts to work it’s magic as you enter through the electric wrought iron gates

This Grade II listed country house is believed to have been built in 1833 for Reginald Fourden, a Lancashire cotton mill owner on an earlier site and it is possible that part of a previous building is incorporated. The site was originally called Pwllarthog. Major restoration took place at the property after a fire in 1942 and it is now partly converted into separate accommodation.

To say that the property has a range of stunning features, inside and out and is really worth viewing, is a complete understatement. You can only really appreciate the complete uniqueness, splendid surroundings and imposing character by truly feeling its presence.

Arthog Hall also lays before you so many opportunities. Not only would the property make a wonderful family home, it also provides an option to derive an income from the various elements on offer. The main house has great Hotel or Bed and Breakfast potential and there is already a well-established holiday let cottage. Furthermore, conversion of part of the main house into a self-contained flat is possible. After some updating, a former coach house has potential for letting, and a detached derelict stone building could be converted, once the relevant consents are obtained.

It is probable that the purchaser will be someone from outside of the immediate local area, as generally speaking, it is buyers from away who normally purchase these types of properties. McCartneys are able to provide clients with properties such as Arthog Hall, in the upper quartile of the market marketing under the Fine & Country brand which brings many benefits from the superb selection of services on offer.

Fine & Country provide a wide range of marketing products and services to help maximise the interest in top end properties. We start with a bespoke 24 page brochure which are full with professional photographs and drone shots, really showing off these extensive properties to their absolute best. In addition to first class brochures, we provide drone footage, 3D virtual tours, page turner brochures as well as extensive internet coverage. The head office is located on Park Lane in London and we hold regular property exhibitions to showcase our exclusive properties to the London market, with our next exhibition actually being on Friday 27th September 2019. A variety of luxury magazines are produced on a regular basis including the Refined magazine and the Exclusive Worldwide Homes magazine with both publications reaching a vast amount of potential buyers. We also regularly advertise in national publications such as the Telegraph and the Sunday Times. I could go on but I would suggest that if the Fine & Country service is attractive to you then contact your local McCartneys office. One of our professional and qualified staff will be able to discuss the service we provide or arrange for a market appraisal on your home when we will be able to go through the services with you in much finer detail.
