A Year On And The Signs Are Still Good!

Wed 30 March 2016

Last year I wrote about how if 2015 fulfilled half the potential it had promised, it would be a year to remember...I think it is fair to say that 2015 was definitely a year to remember!

Despite us never really experiencing the sort of market that the South East is famous for, Mid-Wales, and more specifically our office here in Newtown (2nd picture above, shining bright last evening), had a fantastic year. Buyer confidence was high, properties were flying out and although prices were as consistent as they have been for the last few years, the market was doing very well.

I’m delighted to say that 2016 has filled me full of confidence for the second year running! February and March have seen the kind of days reminiscent of summer months, with high levels of viewings, market appraisals and sales being agreed. A change for the better in weather has definitely translated into a change in the volume of viewers, purchasers and certainly the amount of property now flooding onto the market.

With the change in stamp duty for second homes and buy-to-let properties imminent, I’d expect to see a temporary lull in the bottom end of the market post April 1st, but if the traffic we’ve experienced so far in all other areas is anything to go by, we’re going to be in for a great year.

I’m looking forward to sitting here next year and writing a similar article with a view in 2017 off the back of what I’m sure will have been another exceptional year, but for the time being if you’re thinking about coming to the market and have been putting it off, DON’T! Give McCartneys a call either here in Newtown on 01686 623123, or one of our other 16 property offices and get involved in what promises to be the start of a great Spring/Summer.
