485 PRIME LAMBS
The trade was probably better than expected but certainly nothing to shout about. Best lambs reached £97.50 and 196ppk with well fleshed lambs again a premium. However, every producer must appreciate that the trade for everyone will only improve when firms begin to compete for your prime lambs and that will require genuine support for auctions by there firms who need the lambs but are having them on their terms at present. A successful sheep industry needs a fair price for everyone. The overall average was 172ppk, small lambs were desperately short in supply and we actually had 4 men needing smalls, so please try and find some for next week.
