Brecon Store Report 29th December 2017

Fri 29 December 2017

An excellent entry of stock in all sections with the normal lightening trade for the Christmas period as men got short of feeding cattle following a good selling period.

We had not only a full contingent of buyers but also several new men in attendance who came having heard about the quality of cattle on offer in Brecon at every sale. We again saw quality stores up to £1445 for steers and a heifer from J R Joseph & Son, Lloyney reaching £1690 which was purchased for bulling. He had a wonderful run of heifers the majority of which were ideal replacement heifers and they averaged an incredible £1305 and a staggering 244p/kg for a superb run of cattle. Another good run of 27 heifers was from G Morgan, Bronglyn and many of these were suitable for bulling averaged £1208. It is encouraging to see a good demand for breeding stock which reflects the confidence in the beef and suckler industry as cattle have now enjoyed a relatively long and stable period of good prices.
