Brecon Store Sale Report 27 07 18 & Fatstock 31 07 18

The sale was certainly a challenge however the trade was much better than expected with steers still topping at £1340 and heifers up to £1315 but the weather certainly did have an effect on the trade together with the recent decline in fat prices. However, the stronger cattle especially heifers were easily sold and the quality cattle would still have been around 250-260p/kg with plenty of demand as those cattle seldom rely on grazing. There was an entry of smaller dairy bred types and these were more difficult to sell but did attract sufficient interest and were all sold. The average trade was perhaps £60-£70 down on recent months and steers would have averaged 216p/kg while heifers were a slightly stronger trade at 217.5p/kg which taking all things into consideration was an excellent result.
