692 Store Cattle
A large entry of varied cattle were easily sold with plenty of demand for the strong cattle which topped at £1620 and £1425 for steers whilst heifers reached £1410 and £1320 while the best bred younger types were up to 277p/kg for steers and 287p/kg for heifers with any quality types well over 250p/kg. We have several tremendous runs of cattle from our regular vendors such as JAV Mills, Llanerchllwyd who topped the market with a show potential steer (£1620) and averaged £1141 on young cattle, whilst his neighbour Davies, Llwynpiod sold 15 young cattle to average 245p/kg and £1100 while Davies and Millichap of Rhiwgarn Farm sold 435kg quality steers up to £1065 and 450kg heifers up to £1140, confirming the strong trade for the quality types. Trade was slightly harder on the other types and the price of fodder, corn and straw is certainly having an effect on longer term cattle. However, we still enjoyed a 100% clearance and a strong trade, even though some regular buyers were tied up with their final harvesting
