McCartneys of Ludlow held their most recent antique and collectables sale on Thursday 18th June.
There really was an eclectic mix of lots on offer with something to suit everybody’s taste. A cut glass rectangular decanter with a silver collar lock for marked H&H for Hunkin and Heath realised £300, a 9 Ct gold hunter pocket watch £230 and a Birmingham reticulated silver frog hat pin £140.
As always, coins were strong on the night with 1860 and later silver coins realising £70, British coinage and ten shilling notes £90, British coinage £28 and mixed coins and bank notes £25.
Objets d’art performed well on the evening with a pair of cold painted spelter figural candlesticks going under the hammer at £200, an anglo Indian box £220, an interesting anatomical model of a male torso with exposed organs £60 and a plaster death mask £100.
A good local clearance led to the discovery of some lovey and very heavy treasures, a cast iron garden bench in the style of Val d’Osne sold to a local buyer for £650, an early Staffordshire egg crock in the form of chicken and chicks realised £40 and three pretty Bristol Blue claret decanters made £75.
