Full Planning Approval Successfully Obtained for an Agricultural Access Bridge over the River Teme

Wed 13 May 2020

McCartneys LLP Planning and Survey department have obtained full planning approval for an agricultural access bridge over the River Teme on the English Welsh borders.

This was definitely one of the more unusual requests, however we are happy to assist and help where we can. The current access to the land is only by ford, which means during high river events no access is available as the land is land locked by other owners’ property. Due to the proposal being for a bridge, we had a site meeting with NRW. This meeting identified 3 potential sites, for which we then advanced our clients preference with a topographical survey taken by McCartneys Planning and Survey department across the river during a good period of weather. Following this we were able to create a profile across the river showing the relative height of the bridge to the bank and water level.

In addition a number of ecology surveys were undertaken, together with a pollution prevention plan due to the River being an SSSI.

The application took a reasonable amount of time to come through due to the complexities, however no objections were received once additional information was provided.

The application was undertaken and submitted to the council by Geraint Jones working from the Kington Office of McCartneys. If you have any projects which you would like to discuss further then please contact Geraint on 01544 230316 or geraint.jones@mccartneys.co.uk.
