International Buyers

I was recently reading an article about the makeup of home buyers in the London market which reported that in 2013 almost 44% of London buyers were from abroad. This of course got me thinking about the makeup of our buyers here in Mid Wales.

I am the first to admit that in years gone by I have been very sceptical about the prospect of both investors and primary home buyers in Mid Wales coming from overseas. However, in the last couple of years I have had my eyes well and truly opened.

We are of course all aware of the migration within the UK of people from the Midlands, the South East, Cheshire and more recently Devon and Cornwall into Mid Wales. Many people are looking for that change of lifestyle, a good bit of country living, somewhere pleasant to retire to or have realised what exceptional value for money Mid Wales offers in comparison with other areas of the country. But what about buyers from further afield?

In the last 2 years I have been gobsmacked by the number of people looking to buy property in our most beautiful part of the world from all over the globe. We have sold to people from Belgium, France, Germany, spain and even South Africa. Further to this, interest and viewings have been more and more common place from people currently located in the Middle East, India, The USA and even Australia and New Zealand.

So what is the reason for this dramatic increase in interest in Mid Wales property from abroad? Well, any number of reasons from political unrest around the world, changes in economic circumstances around the world, expats looking to return to the UK and any number of family related issues.

Whatever the reason for the move it is concrete evidence that we really are in a global property market and that your buyer could come from literally anywhere in the world!
