Kington Store Report

Tue 13 March 2018

McCartneys report a good entry of store cattle at Kington on Tuesday 13th March 2018 for their March sale. We had a good quality entry with some plainer and smaller sorts, which sold to a very strong trade. There was a good contingent of buyers looking for all types of cattle and we achieved a 100% clearance.

The good fat cattle trade and a general shortage of store cattle on the market at present has maintained a good demand for store cattle. The ages of the cattle ranged from 11 to 26 months and weights from 340kg to 600kg. The well-bred and good confirmation cattle which were farm assured sold to premium prices and sold up to £2.40ppk for a 23 month old Charolais x heifers from RT Sankey and Co which made £1150 and £1300 per head on two occasions from RT Sankey & Co and T Hughes and Sons.
The supermarket spec cattle sold to premium prices with a very good trade throughout the sale on all sorts.
