STORE CATTLE – 772 More buyers present as the autumn season gets into full swing. As reports around the weather, buyers concerned about the fodder stocks and are being selective. The majority of cattle on offer found new homes.
FEEDING COWS (OTMS) More feeding cows needed, several buyers looking for these to feed. If you have cows that will stand more feeding please use this section. FEEDING BULLS A solid trade with more buyers present. Young well bred sucklers being the most sought after. The entry included several older types and dairy sorts. Bulls topped at £1120pph or £2.79ppk to average £800pph or £2.10ppk. More bulls needed for the next sale.
FEEDING HEIFERS Good strong types and suckled sorts relatively easy to sell. Natives and cattle showing the effects of the dry summer would be more challenging. Having said this there were buyers looking. Please do not let cattle sink and lose their flesh. Cattle that had had dry food had a premium. Heifers topped at £1140pph or £2.45ppk to average £775pph of £1.80ppk.
STEERS A good lot of steers forward. Several groups were showing of the effects of the summer and lost their loins. With feed costs as they are, buyers were looking for warmer and easy feeders. Steers made £1125pph or £2.49ppk to average £855pph or £1.91ppk.
