McCartneys Spring Auction 2016

Tue 29 March 2016

The first auction of property recently took place at The Salwey Arms. Three lots forward, two in North Herefordshire and the other in Powys.

The opening lot 'Woodsmith Cottage' (1st photo above) in the beautiful black & white village of Pembridge had attracted huge interest. This was an ideal 'project' as the property required total refurbishment. To add to its attraction the property was adjoined by a timber & brick barn which with the appropriate planning could become a part of the house which in turn would double the size of the property.
The property had a very realistic guide price of £50,000 and after spirited bidding from more than half a dozen interested parties it was knocked down at £95,000.

Lot 2 (2nd photo above) was situated in the village of Upper Hill just some 5 miles from the market town of Leominster. This again was a black & white cottage set in good sized gardens. The property needed renovation but achieved the fantastic price of £165,000.

The third lot was a 35 acre small holding near to Llandinum in Powys. With the land came a four bedroomed ecological dwelling. This property just failed to reach its reserve.
