Planning Approval Granted for the Change of Use of a Commercial Garage to a Funeral Parlour

Wed 26 June 2019

McCartneys LLP planning and survey department have obtained permission for the change of use of a commercial garage to a funeral parlour in a Mid Wales town.  The development will provide an existing funeral directors business the security of their own funeral parlour and mortuary allowing the business to continue running.  Due to the town location, the front of the building needs to be kept in keeping with the surrounding, while providing the functionality required to run a funeral parlour.

The application went smoothly through the planning process, which was pleasing for the client as it provided the security of a new premises from where they could operate their business from.  Due to the building previously being a commercial garage, several of the planning conditions attached to the approval related to determining if there was contamination in the ground from liquids such as fuel, oil or paints.  McCartneys assisted the client in discharging the conditions by organising a preliminary contamination report to be undertaken for the site.  The contamination report came back negative which allowed the conditions to be satisfied and approved.

The application was undertaken and submitted to the council by Lewis Price working from the Kington Office of McCartneys.
