Property Sales Red Hot as the Summer Continues.

Mon 22 July 2013

The talk is that the housing market is improving. I certainly agree. We are currently boasting 47% of available property under offer. An office record.

And of course those of you active in the market will be aware the latest Land Registry House Price Index has revealed that the average house price in England and Wales increased by 0.5% since the beginning of the year. In Shropshire the average house price has now reached £153,459 (May 2013).

I was speaking with a client just this last week discussing the weather and the impact it has on the housing market and a very keen observation was made; the last ‘real’ summer we were able to enjoy was back in 2006 whilst coincidentally the housing market was at its height. This year, as we are reminded that the sun does shine we begin to see the market gather pace once more.

There are of course stronger influences at work, government help to buy incentives, mortgage markets and changing planning policy, though it does appear that if the sun shines people like to make hay.
