Southdown Females strong at Worcester Saturday 6th September

A keen demand for females was the strong point of the Southdown Sheep Society’s Show & Sale at Worcester with no shortage of strong competition peaking at 490gns for an “All Saints” shearling ewe from Mrs Gail Sprake’s flock, the twin born ewe boasted Signet figures in the top 1% and carrying a third prize rosette quickly sold to Maurice Trumper for his newly formed flock at Abergavenny, Gwent. A second prize winner from the same pen levelled at 320gns to Messrs Alderson & Murphy, Ledbury, Herefordshire who took a total of six sheep at the sale and another “All Saints” ewe at 310gns.
