Successful Charity Auction

Mon 27 April 2015

I was pleased to support our local community recently, undertaking a charity auction on behalf of Wyre Forest Dog Rescue which took place at The Gainsborough House Hotel, Kidderminster.

We sold approximately 90 lots including classic car experiences in a pair of Austin Healey’s which the auctioneer was very tempted by and, as so often happens, ended up supporting the charity personally. So my wife and I will be enjoying a half day trip out into Wales pretending that we are icons from the 1950’s!

There were many other generous lots including meal vouchers, ticket for West Bromwich Albion, four ball golf rounds, hair treatments, overnight hotel accommodations, a remote controlled helicopter and, even a two day holiday in the Lake District.

Helping to organise and provide an auctioneer for local charity auctions has always been a great way to get connected within the local community and raise your own and our company’s profile accordingly.

I have undertaken many such auctions over the years and regularly I am supported by my wife, Lynne, with helping to clerk and cash up a sale.  We have created a fairly bullet proof routine and although they are obviously intended to be ‘fun events’ as well, keeping a pace on such a sale is very important, for example this sale started at 7.30 p.m., we had a break at half time and we still had the selling done by 9.00 p.m.

It is most pleasant to receive thanks, one of the key organisers sent be an e-mail …………………. “it went off very well Chris, thanks to your help. So quick too from start to finish.”

So don’t forget, the next time you are asked to support a local charity, instead of the feeling of an obligatory cash donation, why not pipe up about offering to help organise the same.

For anyone that would wish advise on routine and systems for such an event, please contact me and I will be willing to give advice to perhaps help you or any other organisation set up a successful sale.

We raised the grand total of £1,935.00!
