When it comes to superheros, McCartneys have their own "Iron Man" in the shape of Jamie Tulloch who took part in the Ironman Wales competition held on Sunday 13th September.
This gruelling event featured a 2.4 mile sea swim, followed by a 112 mile bike ride and a marathon to finish.
Prior to competing Jamie, Manager and Associate Member of McCartneys Welshpool Estate Agency office declared he hadn't attempted anything quite like this before and stated "I am trying to raise money for a very worthy cause. I've never done a triathlon before so some people think I’m crazy jumping in at the deep end with the Ironman Wales, arguably the toughest triathlon there is and the hardest on the Ironman circuit. However, I feel that if something is worth doing then it’s worth doing properly and it’s good to push yourself to the absolute max."
Jamie did indeed complete the course in an impressive time of 12 hours, 59 minutes and 14 seconds, and while hoping to raise £1000 managed to far exceeded his target.
After the event Jamie said "I have to say, physically, it was the hardest day of my life but still very enjoyable and rather surreal in places. I finished in a time of just under 13 hours which I was very, very pleased with as I only hoped, never really expected to. I’ve also managed to raise a total of £1300 plus Gift Aid for a great charity, www.adammillichipfoundation.org, which makes the event even more worthwhile."
John Uffold Chairman of McCartneys LLP has donated £250 to add to Jamie's total, noting what an outstanding achievement this was.
