Builth Wells town offers all facilities expected including shops and businesses, arts centre, primary and secondary schools, leisure centre, golf course and the Royal Welsh Showground which holds numerous events throughout the year, together with the heart of Wales railway line running from Swansea to Shrewsbury. The whole of Mid Wales is noted for its areas of outstanding natural beauty, wild flora and fauna, renowned amongst the walking and riding fraternity. It is an area heavily dependent on agriculture with a local livestock market still located in the centre of town, holding weekly sales and numerous additional special sales over a monthly period.

With a population of approximately 2400 Builth offers great local community spirit with many local clubs supporting this. Any keen sportsman or for a family the choices are endless with an 18 hole golf course, successful rugby, football and cricket teams and bowling club. A leisure centre, swimming pool, cinema and arts centre offer a great choice for all ages to keep fit and entertained.

The area offers fantastic fishing on the rivers Irfon and Wye. The local fishing club attracts anglers from all over the country with varied fishing such as Salmon, Brown Trout, Pike, Chub and Dace, and is known for some of the best grayling fishing in the country.

Although a bustling town with ample shops and a busy High Street, Builth also offers an opportunity for people looking to ‘get away from it all’. The beautiful scenery within the Wye Valley, Brecon Beacons National Park and Elan Valley Dams are all only a short drive away.

The town is represented by a very popular Male Voice and Ladies Choirs with The Male Choir participating in the ‘London Welsh 1000 Voices’ in the Albert Hall.

The town offers superb primary and secondary schools with the High School consistently achieving excellent examination results at all levels, with a wide range of after school activities to develop sporting and cultural interests.

Builth Wells is also the home the world famous Royal Welsh Agricultural Show, which is now Britain’s largest and most popular agricultural show, with livestock and visitors coming from all over the world it is a spectacle not to be missed. The Showground regularly draws audiences of over 200,000 over the four days, with more and more additional events now taking place throughout the year such as, horse sales, the Smallholder & Garden Festival and Winter Fair.

The main town is surrounded by smaller villages and hamlets that offer a quieter rural life all with their own local communities, interest and of course wonderful scenery.
