Brecon Market Fatstock Report Tuesday 22nd May 2018

Tue 22 May 2018

A much reduced entry than last week; which was understandable considering the slip in the trade towards the end of last week. Despite this, we were still way in front on price to neighbouring sale centres at the end of last week. It very encouraging to see fresh vendors bringing their stock to us. Please if you think a couple of lambs are not quite ready, do not put them in the pen as you are jeopardising your own trade. Topping today’s trade was GJ & SJ Davies, 53 Warren Close at 302pkg (£129) for a pen excellent 43kg, with his next pen of 42kg at 297pkg. The mediums averaged 274pkg and the light lambs 270pkg. We did expect this drop as we are into the second week of the religious festival ‘Ramadan’ - but an average of 272pkg is excellent considering we averaged 240pkg this week last year. We do need 800 plus lambs a week to support 7 strong buyers demand.
