Fine Art, Antique and General Sale, Incorporating a Sporting and Equestrian Sale Report - Thursday 20th September 2018

A very busy sale with lots of variety on offer, with the monthly general sale incorporating a sporting and equestrian sale. A large number of online bidders and over 100 people in the room on the day meant that the items were selling well.

The various boxes of miscellaneous items were varied in price as usual, selling from £6 to £70.

We had an interesting variety of weighing scales in this month’s sale and these items sold from £8 - £20.

A large collection of ‘OO’ gauge Railway carriages, Locomotives & rolling stock, some Hornby, sold well from £60-£180.

We also had a number of lots in of assorted hickory shafted golf clubs sold which generated much interest and sold from £25-£170.

A collection of first day covers and stamps made £450.

A William IV morocco bound album, plans on John Crowfoot Lenny, Surgeon, 1835, sold for £680.

Various taxidermy also generated much interest with a cased buzzard selling at £60, a cased kingfisher selling at £120 and an early 20th century group of brightly coloured birds & insects selling for £340.

A very interesting piece of a mediaeval oak corbel carved as a gurning peasant. c1400-1450 sold for £650.

A couple of other items that caught some attention were a Louis Lachenal rosewood thirty key concertina which sold for £700, an early 20th century crocodile skin case stamped Drew & Sons, Piccadilly Circus which sold for £320 and also a vintage ‘Wrights Cricket’ advertising display which sold for £420.

Some of the larger items and furniture in the room included an oak chest of 24 drawers on stand at £190, a George IV mahogany breakfast table at £160 and an early Victorian mahogany cheval dressing glass which sold for £220.
