A quality entry of registered Lleyn Sheep attracted a large contingent of buyers to Brecon who were keen to purchase breeding stock. As a result, records were broken for the Brecon Sale as we saw shearling ewes reach £270 for the prize-winning pen from Ms HM Wells, Glanen, while the 2nd prize pen of ewes from Mr & Mrs E & L Thomas, Foxhole Farm, made £205 and vendors enjoyed a 100% clearance and an incredible average of £158 with a premium for all the best types. Friday’s Southern Supreme Show and Sale of Blue Texels, held at Worcester Livestock Market, saw a top price of 3500gns for a shearling ewe from Sara Gibbons, Brecon Powys, which was knocked down to Paul Tippetts, Shifnal, Shropshire, for the Hackney flock. This one is by the homebred tup, Whatmore Wasp and is out of a Whatmore Tommy daughter. Read More
